DESCRIPTION: Heartwood is similar to other oaks & coloration runs from a light tan to pink with a reddish tinge. The wood is predominantly straight grained & coarse textured. Red Oak has a somewhat less attractive figure than White Oak due to smaller rays. Weight is about 48lbs per cu. ft. COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: North America BOTANICAL NAME: Quercus Rubra WORKING PROPERTIES: Density varies. Gluing properties vary & nailing may require pre-drilling. Takes stain well & polishes to a good finish. USES: Furniture, veneer, interior joinery, flooring, plywood. Not suitable for exterior work. SIZES: The stock is surfaced on two sides to 1 3/4" thickness by 5" & wider by 36"-96" in lengths. NOTE: Widths & lengths may vary up to a 1/16" of an inch.
